Brandon Cantu is another professional player that would tell you to download free poker from the UB site. Cantu was born in 1981 in Washington, and after his grandfather taught him poker, he practiced his game in casinos in Oregon. When he went pro, he moved to Vegas because he is close to casinos for US players there.
The decision to go pro came four years ago in Vegas after winning Event 2 of the WSOP for $757,839. An interesting fact about that bracelet win is that it was his very first major tournament. Since then, he has cashed several more times in US poker rooms. As for his WSOP results, he won his 2nd bracelet and $228,967 in a PLO event. That year he almost won two bracelets. He had to settle for 2nd place and $400k in Event 39, a NLHE tournament. His best Main Event finish was in 2008 when he was 20th for just over $250k.
He also has three cashes in the World Poker Tour including his first WPT title in the Bay 101 Shooting Star championship for $1 million. In that tournament he also busted 6 bounty players good for $5k a piece! As such, he got the nickname “The Bounty Hunter”. I wouldn’t be surprised if the six people he took out of that event wished he were at home playing flash Texas Holdem so that he couldn’t knock them out!
Where live tournaments are concerned, Cantu has almost $3.5 million in cashes. He’s on Team UB, though, so you’d think that he must sometimes play in online casinos for USA players. Because he prefers live poker, he actually doesn’t play on money poker sites all that often. As you'd expect, though, being a UB rep means that he has to play at least a bit online. His UB screen name is “brandoncantu”, and he plays tournaments and sometimes high stakes ring games.
If you asked Cantu how you can see better tournaments results, he would tell you to be more aggressive. If you’d like to follow in his footsteps, here’s some advice for you: don’t download free casino games. Instead, make an account at UB and start practicing your tournament game!
